Floral Street: Electric Rhubarb
Although I have found myself thinking about some of my cooler weather scents this last week, I am still clutching onto summer and refusing to admit that it’s September. September is a glorious time of year in Colorado; the weather is still pleasantly warm and the leaves start to change to their scarlet reds and golden yellows. It’s also my wedding anniversary and birthday, so I can’t be too mad at September. I’m not quite ready to let go of my joyful summer fragrances either. Floral Street Electric Rhubarb is just that, summer joy in a bottle!
When I wear Electric Rhubarb, it evokes a sense of lightness and joy, not unlike one you might have on a picnic or just being outside in the sunshine. I can’t say that I’ve had too many picnics, but I have spend a fair amount of time playing in the sunshine in our backyard this summer. Watching my daughter run around the backyard, screaming in delight as swallowtail butterflies dance over her head, and my son sitting in my lap laughing at her, has been one of my greatest joys this summer. It is a wonderful thing that kids can remind you to take notice of the simplest things. I can’t say I would have given those butterflies a second thought, but without fail, every time one flies over head, my daughter gasps with excitement, reaching her hand out in hopes it will land on her.
Electric Rhubarb surprised me in the best way possible when I first sprayed it on. I actually ordered this blind having never smelled it. It is very unusual for me to order a perfume having never smelled it, but happily Electric Rhubarb is a wonderful fragrance! Electric Rhubarb feels sweet to me while I’m wearing it, but the tart, crisp rhubarb keeps this from going too saccharin. The rhubarb stands out the most to me while wearing this, with a soft backdrop of creamy, warm sandalwood and white florals to round the whole thing out. I would dare anyone to wear this and not feel at least slightly happier for it is such a delight to smell on yourself all day.
Floral Street is sold in Sephora in the states. They are a UK based brand and relatively small, so it’s incredibly fortunate that they are stocked at Sephora and are easily accessible to those of us in the U.S. I seem to have a penchant these days for niche fragrances that is impossible to get a hold of in the U.S. Next time you are shopping in Sephora, give this a try and tell me what you think!
Oh! Electric Rhubarb was just recently awarded “Best Fragrance for Women in Limited Distribution” by the Fragrance Foundation UK. So, a huge congratulations to Floral Street on their award!
