Products That Made me Fall IN Love With Makeup Part 2: Urban Decay Naked Heat

I remember the exact year and time that Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Palette was released: summer 2017. I had been dipping my toes into the world of warm eyeshadows and was quickly discovering how much I liked them. When I saw Naked Heat released in summer 2017, I knew it needed to be mine. Naked Heat is the first eyeshadow palette that I remember being very excited about and one that I researched throughly. I watched every YouTube review, looked at every Instagram post I could, and was convinced that I would like it. I made a decision that it wasn’t a vital purchase on my unpaid maternity leave though. I didn’t end up getting it until about a year later, when someone in a Facebook group I am in was giving it away, and I jumped at the chance to own it.

When I finally got it, I could not believe I had waited this long to own it. I was right, I did like using it and loved how it made my green eyes really stand out. I had figured out what my favorite kind of eyeshadows were to wear, and the ones that looked the best on me. As cooler tones make their way back into popularity, I will still cling to my warmer shadows and just not be hip or cool. Naked Heat is a beautiful palette of warm red toned eyeshadows, ranging from soft browns all the way to a deep purply/brown. I find myself using the middle of the palette the most; He Devil, Dirty Talk, Scorched and Cayenne are my favorite shades to use.

Naked Heat is the first palette I used that really inspired me to be creative with my eye makeup. Up until this point, I was mostly a one and done, single eye shadow type of makeup wearer. Opening up that palette and looking at all the color possibilities woke up the creative side of my brain and I started to look forward to doing my eye makeup every morning. I get a tiny rush of excitement when I open Naked Heat, even to this day.

I use makeup for many reasons, and one is that it is my armor for the day. Much like wearing red lipstick, choosing what makeup I wear for the day helps me decide what I want to project to the world around me. My eyes are one of my favorite features on my face and I like finding ways to enhance them. If Naked Heat ever gets discontinued, it will be sad day indeed. Luckily, there’s no shortage of eye shadow palettes these days!
