Products That Made Me fall in love with makeup Part 3: Nars Blush
The first powder blush I ever bought was Nars Deep Throat. After an intense debate with my sister, I decided to get Deep Throat over Orgasm. I ended up buying Orgasm a few months later. My Nars blushes have grown over the years and have have two additional ones now, Taj Mahal and Luster. I don’t own many powder blushes these days as I prefer a cream blush, but Nars blushes still remain a favorite of mine.
For a long time, I avoided blush and didn’t want to wear it. I though that because my face was already red, I didn’t want to make the problem worse by wearing a colored product on my face. What I didn’t realize, as silly as this sounds, is that there are many different colors and undertones of blush and that not all of them are red. What a thrill it was for me to discover this and dove head first into blush. It’s now the largest part of my makeup collection and my favorite part of doing my makeup is picking my blush color.
I won’t spend too long talking about Deep Throat or Orgasm. Their popularity makes them easily recognizable and for good reason! Deep Throat is the less shimmery, pinker cousin of Orgasm. I like to use Orgasm the most in the summer time; it feels cheering and happy to wear. I wear Deep Throat all the time. It’s my most used powder blush in my collection. It goes with any and all makeup looks. I’ve worn it in two weddings and to countless other major events and it looks great every time.
Taj Mahal was the third Nars blush I got and it’s probably what started the early stages of my orange makeup obsession. It’s a rich burnt orange, with some gold sheen running through it. It’s a truly a gorgeous color and nice alternative to a darker blush that isn’t a purple or berry toned one. The last Nars blush I have is Luster, which I’ve wanted since the beginning, but was never sure if it was too light of a color for me. It strays just on the edge of too light. I like to use it when I have a lot going on on either my eyes or lips. I also like it layered with Deep Throat or used as a sheer apricoty eye shadow. Luster is very versatile.
Even now, years later, when I open a Nars blush, it still excites me to see the color in the pan. I will always have at least one (probably more!) in my collection. If I want a new powder blush, the first place I start looking is at the Nars blushes. They are pigmented, blend well and last a considerable amount of time. I am indebted to Nars for helping me discover my love for blush!
