Bedeaux: Chouette Parfum

IMG_8730.jpeg

I have a wonderful friend in England who occasionally sends me the most glorious packages of fragrances. The most recent on she sent me was a generous package, stuffed to the brim with decants of fragrances I wanted to review and smell. They were all sitting on my counter, and there was one scent that kept sticking out to me. When I got the chance to sift my way through all the fragrances and it was BedeauX Chouette that was calling to me. I have a two milliliter sample size of Chouette and I am squirreling it away, for I dread the day it runs out.

The description alone of Chouette makes me want to spray myself without abandon. “…reflecting the warmth of a summer night: fireflies under a sparkling midnight sky, heady night blooming flowers, orchards nurturing ripening fruits, all billowing softly on an aromatic summer breeze.” One of my favorite things to do is sit outside on a summer evening, listen to the crickets chirp and watch the sun slowly fade behind the mountains. I find it a great source of comfort that I can still go outside and listen to crickets chirp in the summer. The song birds still twitter at sunset, the grass still smells damp and earthy and life keeps on moving forward in nature. I am a person who craves stability and in a year that was anything but routine, sitting in my backyard watching pink and gold sunsets was just what I needed to clear my head

The cassis and resinous woods in Chouette are my favorite part of this scent. The cassis in this is jammy, nearly edible. The resinous woods make the cassis feel even more jam like and syrupy. I smell the faintest hint of smoke in the resin. The combination of the cassis and resinous woods is an addictive combination that lasts hours after I spray this on. There is also some citrus and jasmine to lift the scent a bit and make it smell a bit brighter. And the amber and musk make this feel cozy and comforting, just how summer evening in Colorado feels to me. Chouette is sweet and smokey woods on a late summer day

I love wearing Chouette so very much. It’s been taking a lot of effort for me to not wear this every day. I will be awaiting anxiously for Amanda to make her move to Chicago, so that I can be her first customer to buy her fragrances!
