Harlem Candle Company: Holiday candle

I recently purchased my first candle from Harlem Candle Company since discovering them earlier this summer. My first purchase was Holiday, inspired by Billie Holiday’s favorite fragrance to wear, Emeraude. While doing research for this post, I spent some time reading about Emeraude. I need to seek out the vintage version of Emeraude - it sounds like such a lovely fragrance. Holiday’s interpretation of Emeraude is gorgeous too, a woody, green scent perfect for the festive season.

From the packaging, to the votive, to the actual fragrance of Holiday, this does not disappoint in any way! The box Holiday is packaged in has such attention to detail, even the inside. The inside has a pattern of a night club map of Harlem. The votive itself is a gorgeous deep, emerald green that feels weighty and tactile to hold. It’s a double wick, 12 ounce candle, so this will last you quite some time. I am also impressed with the hot throw on this candle too! I burn this candle in the middle level of our house, and I can smell it one flight up, in my bedroom.

The scent of Holiday is perfect for this time of year! It’s more unusual than most holiday candles I’ve smelled. Holiday has pine in it, but it also has hyacinth, eucalyptus, fir balsam and cedarwood. It’s definitely a woody scent, but this smells greener than most “holiday” candles with the hyacinth in the blend. The different types of tree scents used in Holiday also make this more complex. The different tree scents make Holiday feel like going for a walk in the forest on a clear, crisp Winter day. What a treat this is to burn in the evenings and perfume the whole house with.

I am so pleased to have discovered Harlem Candle Company. I would like to purchase their Brownstone and Speakeasy scents next. The stories that provide inspiration for all the scents are so interesting to read. Their founder, Teri, does Instagram lives every other Tuesday called “Tuesdays with Teri” and she drinks wine and chats about Harlem Candle Company and does and Ask Me Anything segment at the end of the live. They are super fun and a really good way to get to know the brand better. I can’t wait to see what Harlem Candle Company releases in 2021.!
