Escentric Molecules: Escentric 05

Adjustments.jpeg

As much as this pains me to write, summer is winding down, and Autumn is knocking quietly on our door.  I saw some yellow leaves on my walk with my dog earlier this week and told the trees to hold their horses, we still have at least six weeks of summer left!  During this later part of summer, I’ve been enjoying wearing the newest release from Escentric Molecules, Escentric 05.  I’ve been enjoying wearing it all summer, but it feels especially nice to wear now!  It’s an unusual release for this time of year, which is one reason why I like it so much.  This smells of woods, sunshine and fig, all rolled into one warm hug.

My initial impression while wearing this is fig and bergamot, followed by a piney, woody base.  There is an arid scent that trees give off while they have been bleaching in the sun all day; dry, and resinous, the cashmeran captures this elegantly. The additional notes of juniper, rosemary and mastic solidify the forest scent, done so well that it’s hard not to think you are standing in an actual forest.  And the fig!  Oh the fig in this is such a delight to wear.   This is a fig that you’ve left sitting on your counter, its insides like jam and bursting with sweet juice.

I am very curious to see how this would wear during the cooler months, as I imagine the fragrance would play differently on cool skin.  On warm, summer skin, this is a warm embrace, wrapping you up and snuggling with you.  I think the effect would only be intensified in the winter, and that you might get more of the sea air and cool mineral effect.

I am so pleased that I discovered this and would love to add this to my collection in the future.  This is on my birthday list for next month! Escentric Molecules is a little more challenging to find in the U.S. I found my sample at LuckyScent and they sell the full size 100ml bottle and the 30ml travel size.  It’s worth seeking and out giving it a sniff, especially if you want something a little more unique for your end of summer fragrance!
