Quick Fire Scent Questions

I love listening to podcasts and recent discovery has been The Sniff Podcast. I enjoy listening to the reviews of fragrances and the interviews of perfumers. The host, Nicola, is an excellent interviewer and asks really interesting questions. At the end of every interview, there is a quick fire round of questions related to scent, and I thought I’d write down my own answers to the questions!

  1. Favorite smell? Mountain air. Pine trees, specifically ponderosa pines that are lightly scented like vanilla, water, and earth. That’s how my mountain air smelled where I grew up.

  2. Least favorite smell? Scented trash bags. I actually figured out I was pregnant once when I walked into our kitchen and nearly threw up because the smell of the fake lavender scented trash bag smelled so bad.

  3. If you could go any where, and smell anything, what would it be? My maternal grandparents. I know my grandpa wore Aramis Cologne and my grandma wore Youth Dew, but I didn’t know either one of them very well. My grandma died before I was born and my grandpa died when I was fairly young. I’ve always wished I knew more about them.

  4. What do you think fear smells like? Sweat. Like acrid, sharp sweat and you’ll never be able to wash out of your clothes.

  5. What smell is a strong olfactive memory and where does it take you? The horse barn where my horses lived when I was growing up. Hay, warm sunshine, sweaty horses was the scent of my summer break from school. I’d also add the smell of a can of Coke too, because when we were done riding, we always sat in the shade and drank icy cold Cokes.

  6. What fragrance are you wearing today? Zoologist Dragonfly. It’s watery, green and almost iridescent like a dragonfly’s wings.

  7. What does Summer smell of? Sunscreen, tomato vines, barbecued steak and gin and tonics.

  8. Favorite food smell? Onions, garlic and cumin cooking in olive oil. My mom’s family is from Spain and most of her Spanish dishes start with these ingredients.

  9. What smell reminds you of school? Wet lawn. My elementary school was right next to a lake and the edge of the field was perpetually wet because it was so close to the lake.

I hope you enjoyed read through my answers to these scent questions! Have a lovely week!
